Variance Estimation in Two-phase Sampling Using Multi-auxiliary Variables in the Presence of Non-response

چکیده
The problem of variance estimation in two phase sampling under non response was not considered in the literature. We have adapted the classes of variance estimators suggested by Srivastava and Jhajj (1980) into the two phase sampling under the strategy given by Hansen and Hurwitz (1946) for the problem of non-response. In this paper some more generalize classes of estimators for the population variance are proposed using multiauxiliary information in the presence of non-response in two phase sampling. Two situations of availability of auxiliary information and two situations of non-response are considered while constructing the classes. The expressions for mean square error are also provided and an empirical study is carried out to support the theoretical findings.

Estimating Variance of the Sample Mean in Two-phase Sampling with Unit Non-response Effect
In sample surveys, we always deal with two types of errors: Sampling error and non-sampling error. One of the most common non-sampling errors is nonresponse. This error happens when some sample units are not observed or viewed but they do not answer some of the questions. The complete prevention of this error is not possible, but it can be significantly reduced. The non-response causes bias and ...
متن کاملOn Presentation a new Estimator for Estimating of Population Mean in the Presence of Measurement error and non-Response
Introduction According to the classic sampling theory, errors that are mainly considered in the estimations are sampling errors. However, most non-sampling errors are more effective than sampling errors in properties of estimators. This has been confirmed by researchers over the past two decades, especially in relation to non-response errors that are one of the most fundamental non-immolation...
متن کاملSome Improvment in the Estimation of Population Mean in Cluster Sampling
Gupta and Shabbir (2008) have suggested an alternative form of ratio-type estimator for estimating the population mean. In this paper, we introduced new estimators by mixing two, stratified and cluster sampling method. Then we improved these estimators by using auxiliary variables and introducing new estimators. For sampling in infinite populations with a high geographic dispersion, the populat...
متن کاملModel-assisted Estimation of Forest Resources with Generalized Additive Models
Multi-phase surveys are often conducted in forest inventory, with the goal of estimating forested area and tree characteristics over large regions. This article describes how design-based estimation of such quantities, based on information gathered during ground visits of sampled plots, can be made more precise by incorporating auxiliary information available from remote sensing. The relationsh...
متن کاملSimultaneous robust estimation of multi-response surfaces in the presence of outliers
A robust approach should be considered when estimating regression coefficients in multi-response problems. Many models are derived from the least squares method. Because the presence of outlier data is unavoidable in most real cases and because the least squares method is sensitive to these types of points, robust regression approaches appear to be a more reliable and suitable method for addres...
